Arts & Crafts: Introduction to Spinning

Monroe Spinning Guild member Jennifer Lee will share an introduction to spinning. Attendees will learn about spinning fibers, different types of yarns, and a basic weaving overview.  From sheep to shawl! 

Kids Only: Soccer Workshop for Kids

Members of the Monroe High School Girls Soccer Team will lead a Soccer Workshop for elementary age boys and girls (entering 2nd -5th Grade in Fall 2021). They will run drills and teach techniques for the beginner soccer player. **Pre-Registration Required, Limited Spots Available.**

History: Living History Behind the Scenes: Exploring Cultures and Practices of 1817 at Territorial Park Tour (North Custer & Raisinville Road)

Go behind the scenes to see the inner workings of living history at Territorial Park with Monroe County Museum System Deputy Director JJ Przewozniak. Territorial park is home to the 1789 Navarre House (Trading Post), and a comprehensive living history program that allows visitors to step back in time to 1817. JJ will explore the history of the site and buildings, and offer participants an in-depth view of how to make history come alive in the 21st Century. Check in at St. Paul’s by 6:15pm; you will provide your own transportation to Territorial Park. Tour will begin at 6:30pm.

Sports & Outdoor Activities: Lagoon Discovery

Erika VanKirk, an Explorer Guide will invite you to join in for a one-mile paved guided hike to discover what lives in the lagoon habitat at Sterling State Park. We will discuss and observe plants, animals, and birds along our walk. Our experience will last about 1 - 1.5 hours. *Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Don’t forget supportive shoes, long pants/sleeves, bug spray, and water! Bring binoculars if you own a pair! Recreation passport required for entry for each vehicle.*

Recreation Passport Info:

  • Vehicles: $12 when purchased with your license plate registration renewal through the Secretary of State.

  • Vehicles: $17 when purchased at state parks or at the Secretary of State outside your license plate registration renewal cycle. (Recreation Passport fee + $5 convenience fee = $17)
